Treasurer resigns in Briscoe Co.

Body During the regular meeting of the Briscoe County Commissioners Court on Monday, Aug. 11, commissioners accepted the resignation of county treasurer Mary Jo Brannon, effective Sept. 30, 2025, with only one opposing vote. Applications were accepted until Aug. 23.

Body The Silverton Owls junior high and high school cross country teams traveled down the hill for the Caprock Canyon Bison Run on Tuesday, Sept. 3 on the scenic trails at Caprock Canyons State Park. Numerous teams competed, with race start at 3:00 p.m.

Motley County girls win Spur cross country meet

Body The Motley County cross country teams traveled to Spur on Wednesday, Sept. 3, to compete in the Silver Spur Cross Country Meet. Several Matadors and Mavericks ran well and brought home hardware, including a team championship for the varsity girls, coached by Mary Jones.

Body The Valley Patriots hosted the Caprock Canyon Bison Run cross country meet on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Caprock Canyons State Park. Valley had four teams competing, junior high boys and girls as well has high school boys and girls with several finishing as medalists.
