Body AUSTIN– As college students begin returning to campus for the start of the fall semester, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) encourages students to make smart decisions and remain aware of their surroundings both on and off campus.

The Paducah Fire Department fought and contained a fire last week in the vicinity of County Road 112 all the way north to FM3256. It’s estimated that over 1,400 acres burned last week. Several structures were threatened, but fire crews were successful putting in fire guards and standing guard against the approaching fire. Numerous fire retardant air drops from single engine aircraft were made including several retardant drops from the large air tankers. | COURTESY PHOTO
