Despite unrelenting summer heat, dove season expected to have soaring numbers

Body TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT AUSTIN — A cool and rainy spring means that despite above-average summer temperatures, Texas hunters could encounter significantly increased dove populations as the 2023 season opens Sept. 1.

Body MATADOR— From San Antonio to Amarillo, the extended Schweitzer family threw a wide loop at the 100th Old Settlers Reunion and Rodeo at Roaring Springs with a display of saddles made by their patriarch, the renowned Henry Houston (H.H.) Schweitzer and his son, Bert.
