THE GREG RAMSEY FAMILY are lifetime members of the First Baptist Church of Quitaque. The church is asking for material donations in the form of clothes, shoes, jackets, toiletry items, cleaning supplies of all sorts, paper goods, groceries including water, pantry items, refrigerated items, and possibly meals in a couple of days. THE LOWE’S MARKET, at left in this 2021 photo, has been an anchor of Matador’s main commercial block for the past 35 years. A planned closure of the store, according to locals, would leave other businesses, such as the Hotel Matador bed & breakfast next door and Billie Dean’s Restaurant on U.S. 62 in tough straits—not to mention local families, a hard-working ranching community, and visitors to the area. | CAPROCK COURIER
