LADY MATS FALL; DISTRICT UPDATE The Motley County girls varsity basketball team fell to Spur last Tuesday 48-34. The win for Spur brought their season record to 7-1. The Spurettes lost to Jayton Friday and fell to a 7-2 record. The Jayton Lady Jays are 9-0 and clinched District 5-1A Friday night. QUAIL SEASON ENDS Matador Wildlife Management Area (Texas Parks and Wildlife) wrapped up its quail season last week, with numbers better than in several years. The area had 421 hunter check-ins, with hunters spending 792 days in the field and harvesting 835 quail. Even at the end of the season many hunters were bumping several coveys a day, with some coveys having 15+ birds.The organization said that they should have good carryover into the breeding season. | COURTESY PHOTO
