Oh my goodness, here we go again with the coronavirus. I had hoped we would not have so much more of that, but! I hope it will not be bad and I will keep my mask handy. Glad I got my shots. I just got word that my late husband’s brother, Joe Ray Stodghill, passed away.

Briscoe County’s Pioneer of the Year announced

On a Briscoe County Road off FM 284 sits a red brick house with white stucco on the side. It’s just a mile south of the Silvercot Gin, and it’s the home of local farmer and 2021 Pioneer of the Year Elton Cantwell.

Briscoe commissioners’ court funds $100K for Tri County Food Pantry

In the regular meeting of the Briscoe County Commissioners held July 12, Nicole Tyler spoke in open forum. Tyler spoke as a representative from the Texas Department of Transportation to inform the court about STEP grants, which TxDOT provides in order to cover overtime hours for sheriff’s deputies.

The quilters are enjoying the cool air from the new air conditioner. It really makes a difference and everyone is so proud of it. And the exercise group second the thanks for the cool room. The Methodist Church is hosting the Vacation Bible School this week.

Briscoe County sends notices of marks and brands renewal

Pursuant to Texas Agriculture Code 144.044 all Marks, Brands and Tattoos currently registered with the Briscoe County Clerk will expire on August 31, 2021. The renewal period for your Marks/Brands/ Tattoos is September 1, 2021 through February 28, 2022.

Motley County 4-H competed in the District 3 Record Book contest last week. The results are as follows. Junior Division: Ryder Russell, 3rd Goat; Senior Division: Wyatt Perryman, 5th Beef; Jacelyn Perryman, 2nd Natural Resources.
