Body Track and Field season has begun in Motley County, with 55 athletes participating this spring.

Body Congratulations to Guthrie’s Journey Johnson, a senior, and Remington Long, a freshman. Johnson made first team All-District and Long was named Newcomer of the Year.

Body Congratulations go to Makaisha Flemons, a senior, Aidan Piper, a senior, Talon Blount, a sophomore and Kennedy Whitaker, a junior, for receiving Honorable Mention All-District. 

VALLEY PLAYOFFS

Body The Valley Lady Patriots advanced to the regional quarterfinals and were to take on Nazareth Tuesday, Feb. 21 atWayland Baptist University in Plainview.The Nazareth Swiftettes (24-9) were ranked #7 in the state at game time. 

Caprock Chamber begins organizing

Body QUITAQUE— Representatives of 49 businesses from Silverton, Quitaque and Turkey met February 16 at the Quitaque Country Club to discuss how to form a Caprock Chamber of Commerce, according to Kaylee Rhoderick of Kaylee’s Place, Flowers and Gifts of Silverton, one of the organizers.

PATRIOTS PLAYOFFS

Body The Valley Patriots were slated to play the McLean Tigers (13-13, 8-4) Monday night at 6 p.m. in the bi-district playoff at White Deer. 

DISTRICT CHAMPS

Body DISTRICT CHAMPS The Owls boys’ varsity team has won the district crown outright with a with a 10-0 undefeated record in district 2-1A. That includes an 11-game winning streak with the Owls being 8-1 at home. They will face Booker Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.

PLAYOFF BOUND

Body PLAYOFF BOUND The Silverton Lady Owls have earned a trip to the playoffs by finishing 7-3 in district 2-1A for a third-place finish. The Lady Owls, 17-10 on the season, were to face Miami (10-2, 19-10) Tuesday night in Panhandle.

MOTLEY BASKETBALL

Body MOTLEYBASKETBALL Basketball has come to an end this season in Motley County. The Matadors lost to Jayton 94-6 Friday night at home and were to play Paducah Tuesday night on the road. ONE ACT PLAY Motley County students are in rehearsals for UIL One Act Play.
