Well, we finally got our killing freeze, and my petunias are no longer as they froze, too. I don’t know where they came from, as I didn’t plant them or even had the seed, but they came up so pretty and stayed all summer, and I really enjoyed them.
CHRISTMAS IN MATADOR On Thursday, Dec. 1, the band Narrow Bridge and friends will be performing Christmas music live under the gazebo in downtown Matador as a part of the Christmas in Matador celebration. Christmas music begins at 5 p.m. and starting at 8 the band will have a mini gospel concert. Band members are Alfred Segovia, Juan Sustaita, Kenan Phillips and Rickey Green. | COURTESY PHOTO

CAPROCK CHRISTMAS Across Caprock Country this week there will be holiday celebrations in Matador, Silverton, Paducah and Roaring Springs.

Texas’ historic Port Isabel Lighthouse to shine again Dec. 9

in the dark, the Port Isabel lighthouse, the only lighthouse on the Texas Gulf Coast that is open to the public, will light up once again. The lighthouse, now a Texas Historical Commission State Historic Site, has recently had a reproduction 3rd order Fresnel lens installed in its lantern room.
