The Roaring Springs Lions Club met Feburary 1, 2022, at Billie Dean’s Resturant in Matador, with Texas game warden Matthew Cruse as special guest.

Overheard During the Depresssion, when some people were sleeping on mattresses stuffed with corn husks or straw, the government sponsored a program in which people could make their own quality mattresses. A government agency furnished the ticking, cotton, thread and needles to a community group.

Motley senior awarded scholarship

Andrew Stafford of Motley County ISD has been awarded a scholarship from Panhandle-Plains Higher Education Foundation – the Windmill Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded for the school year 2022–23 and is renewable for the next three years. Congratulations to Andrew!

SCURRY Scurry County Museum to re-open March 8 SNYDER--The Scurry County Museum will open its doors again to the public next month with a new temporary exhibit. The museum has been closed due to COVID-19 but will reopen Tuesday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. beginning March 8.

Lake Alan Henry GOOD. Water clear; 50 degrees; 4.10 feet low. Another cold snap coming through, please check the weather forecast before heading out. Bass are good using football head jigs and spoons off ledges in 30-40 feet of water. The crappie are good on crappie jigs tipped with minnows.
